WEEKLY RIDES

The Club runs a regular selection of training and social rides each week for our Members. We also offer extra rides, pre-race warm ups, special events and social activities for Members to enjoy throughout the year. In addition, we provide a Member's Only Forum to assist Members with coordinating their own group rides to keep things interesting!

If you're a Member you automatically receive our Club News via email and also be able to access our Member's Only Forum which both provide the information you need to access the rides.

If you're not yet a Member but you would like to join us for a 'test ride', its easy to get involved! We've produced some detailed Quick Start Guides to get you started, but the basics are:

  1. You need to contact our Club Captains a few days in advance to let them know that you are thinking of coming along;
  2. We strongly recommend that you purchase yourself a  Cycling Australia Recreational (Silver) - 3 Month Membership ($28) for your own insurance purposes before your ride, which will also give you 3 months of access to the full range of membership benefits, and;
  3. You can then meet us at the Goodwill Bridge, South Bank side 5 minutes prior to the advertised departure time.

Other important information about our rides:

  • Our rides are designed for road bikes only, and the use of mountain, triathlon (tri-bars and rear disks) and fixed or single speed geared bikes are not permitted on our group rides, primarily for safety reasons.
  • Riders under the age of 16 are to be accompanied by a parent, and should contact the Club Captain beforehand to discuss suitability of the ride.
  • You should advise the Ride Leader of any relevant medical conditions / special requirements that you might have prior to departing.
  • If there has been rain overnight, the roads are wet, or it is still raining - we cancel our ride. If this happens, we do our best to issue a cancellation on the Club Home Page 45 minutes before the advertised start time.

These rides typically average 27km/h over 50-80km flat to undulating terrain and are always tailored to suit the group on the day. For longer rides, there are fewer hills. For shorter rides, there are a few undulations to keep things interesting. The group will stop for flats and nobody gets left behind. These are a great way to get in to group riding and make new friends.
