ORGANISED CLUB RIDES
The club offers a range of riding options throughout the week across a variety of levels and difficulty to suit member’s needs.
Easy rides are available on Wednesday (women’s only), Friday and Sunday. We also offer a medium-paced option on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Fast rides are organised mid-week on an on-demand basis (e.g. our Thursday Sandgate Express, or Fitter Faster rides), with other riding organised on an ad-hoc basis through the club’s member-only Facebook group or TeamApp.
To get involved, either join the club or contact our club captain for a trial ride.
When organising a trial ride with the club, you’ll be asked to enrol in the Free 4 week Trial Membership from AusCycling. This gives you the opportunity to ride as a guest with the club and provides you with important Third Party Public Liability and Personal Accident Insurance. If you decide to join KPCC, you convert your trial membership into a full membership. Details are on the AusCycling website here.
If you have not been an AusCycling member of a club in the last 3 years you can sign up for an AusCycling 4 week free trial membership. This includes the important 3rd party liability insurance.

If you are currently a member of another club please email through a screenshot of your membership to the club secretary.
All our organised club rides are managed by qualified Ride Leaders who will guide the group around the course, offer advice and ensure the safety of all riders. The club has accredited coaches for our track program held at Anna Meares Velodrome and also for our racing program. To stay up to date on club information, events and check which club rides are coming up, please download and join Stack TeamApp here. Search for “Kangaroo Point Cycling Club” and ask to join as a member. On our TeamApp, you will find upcoming rides under the “Events” page.
We also recommend you join our members private Facebook group, “TeamKP”. It’s a great place to see what’s happening in the club and communicate with other members about all things cycling. Feel free to post photos of your rides for KPCC members to view.
The following rides are currently offered and promoted through the various club social media platforms and in the club newsletter on a weekly basis:
Tuesday – Mount Cootha repeats. All members welcome and self-paced.
Wednesday – Women on Wednesday (WOW) Riverloop. The WOW ride is for beginners, new to group riding or returning riders. Check out http://kpcc.org.au/women for more information.
The WOW ride is an excellent place to get used to group riding with a great bunch of women. It is a no-drop ride, so no one ever gets left behind, and the emphasis is on riding together and improving skills. Back at South Bank by around 6.45am for a coffee before work.
Mixed on Wednesday (MOW) – as the name suggests this is a mid-week ride for all members. This is an extended Riverloop that is ridden at a medium pace for more confident riders who want some effort in the roll around the Riverloop. No drop, social ride. Meet the WOW rides for coffee afterwards.
Thursday – The “Sandgate Express” is a medium/fast ride designed to improve your fitness, ridden in TTT formation (single rolling paceline).
Friday – (or FriYay as we call it!). The famous Riverloop around the Brisbane River. The club has two groups (medium and easy paced) that depart from the southside of the Goodwill Bridge every Friday at 5.30am. All members welcome.
Track – KPCC conducts track sessions at the Anna Mears Velodrome on Friday evenings commencing at 6.30pm during certain times of the year. The club has a qualified track coach to oversee our program and will guide you through all you need to know from accreditation to training programs. Track sessions are advertised through all the social media streams and weekly newsletter. All members welcome.
Saturday – Keep an eye on the club social media platforms for member organised rides.
Sunday – Club Ride. The club organises various social rides on a Sunday morning. There are various routes each week and also 2 groups to choose from – Easy pace and Medium pace. All rides are social, supportive and No Drop. Sunday rides depart from the southside of the Goodwill Bridge. Club kit is mandatory on the Sunday rides.
