In one of the biggest club ride turnouts in recent times, this morning twenty six brave souls took on the latest TeamKP challenge; the inaugural Ronde van Brookfield-gem-beek-berg.
Inspired by the Belgium Classics and thought up by ride creating powerhouse Ashley (who graciously shortened his honeymoon by a day to be back to ride)- the Ronde van Brookfield-gem-beek-berg took take riders through the western suburbs on a route that if it were in Europe would most definitely be on the world-tour classics calendar!
The ride covered the infamous Brookfield ‘three fingers’ that tested riders’ ability on the untamed and often gravel and potholed roads, and the steep Belgian-inspired ‘bergs’ zapped the legs of even the bravest riders.
Though it was not a race, club members still battled for bragging rights, with Dom "Maxime Arnoud" Doan claiming overall honours, AlixE being the first woman to roll in to all three fingers, and ClaireH taking finish line glory at MySweetopia.
With the fantastic weather and the great TeamKP spirit it was a ride enjoyed by all.
We hope to see an even bigger bunch on the road next year for the second annual Ronde van Brookfield-gem-beek-berg!
A big thank you to AshE for creating and leading this good fun day on the bike!
Stay tuned for our next TeamKP "one day specials" ride coming soon!
