It was a perfect afternoon for the first Kangaroo Point Cycling Club Criterium Skills Training event at Nundah with blue sky, sunshine and a light breeze coming in from the bay.
Organised by MarkC & KeithH, the event provided an opportunity for members to develop skills in a friendly environment that is non-threatening and fun, with a strong focus on providing new riders and social riders the opportunity to learn something new and interesting even if they might not be planning on racing regularly.
With some advice on group skills, racing tactics and maintaining a line before the start from Club Coach Dr Steven, former Club Captain & Event Director Mark and Event Commissaires Brad & Andy- it was straight on to the course for a warm up and our three races.
Our first two races were aimed at Silver Licence holders who were coached on skills, tactics and having fun by some of the Club's sponsored riders KieranH and MatthewP from Erdinger Alkoholfrei - Fiets Apparel and PeterK from QSM Racing.
Our third race was exclusively for Gold Licence holders and featured some impressive attacks from AshE, MatthewP and KieranH before it all came back together for a bunch sprint.
It was great to see KieranH coaching RichardS all the way to the line - even if ShaneC did come from the outside to take the win!
The Club extends it's thanks to MarkC & KeithH our Event Directors, AndyF & BradG our Commissaires and the volunteers, competitors and supporters for making our first event a success!
Our next Club Criterium Training is on Saturday 12 April from 2:45pm at Nundah.
