The Anzac 25 Open was held this past weekend and Kangaroo Point was out in force across all the Senior Divisions.
For KP the day started with the Womens C race. KP had a strong contingent of members including a number of Flyers. The race was great to watch with smart riding from all members. The intermediate was a long sprint won by Yvette W. The finale was a sensational two up sprint between rising stars Simone L & Steph B. Steph led out from the bottom of the hill and just held out the fast finishing Simone. The photo showed Steph took the win!
In Womens D, a lone Flyer, Mandy R learning lessons from the intermediate sprint held her own in the final and took the top step. Congratulations Mandy!
In the Masters D race, a smart race ridden by Jeff K and Michael B, but it was Calvin T and David H taking the glory with a First and Fourth respectively. It was a very enjoyable race to watch. Congratulations to all.
A fairly quiet race for Members in Masters A, B & C with everyone finishing with the bunch.
The Anzac 25 race itself was a grueling 25 lap affair of the race circuit. In the end it was a break of three riders who stayed away to take the first couple of steps of the podium with a bunch kick determining the lower places. Club member Travis S was pipped taking fourth place.
Congratulations to Stephen R with his third place in a fast and furious bunch sprint in the Elite B race.
Congratulations to Hannah T for taking third in the Womens A race, with strong rides from Michaela M & Brooke S.
In the Elite C race, members lit the race up from the start with every lap seeing a different group of riders off the front. By the time the intermediate sprint was on, Cameron L had found himself in a prime spot to take it out and did so convincingly. Unfortunately, shortly after, a number of riders were caught up in a crash. This neutralized the race while ambulances tended the fallen riders. In the end it was a neutral lap followed by a one lap dash. The rider who had enjoyed a break was given his advantage back and went on to take the win. Once again, Cam L had the perfect position and took out the bunch kick (and second overall) with the remaining KP riders finishing strongly.
Everyone was awesome. The End.
