2014 Len Hunt Memorial Shield

The Club was pleased to award the 2014 Len Hunt Memorial Shield to James Sheffield for substantial improvement on the bike and a strong contribution to the Club off the bike.

James broke his back twice during 2013, and was a regular spectator at many of the Club's activities whilst wearing his back brace and waiting to heal. As soon as he was on the bike, James was back in to training and within a few months was starting to show some promise with good results at Murrarie.

Following a long and tough period of training as part of the Club's upperlimb.com Cunningham Classic Men's Performance Racing Program James raced the upperlimb.com Cunningham Classic placing a respectable 9th in his division. He then went on to feature at the front of most open racing throughout the rest of the year, earning a podium at the Club's Brisbane Kermesse powered by Tineli.

To top off a fantastic year of improvement James headed south to compete in the Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic; one of the toughest one day races in Australia and finished just behind the main field after a great race.

We are extremely proud to call James a Member of the Club!

Kangaroo Point Cycling Club was pleased to introduce a new award to recognise the contribution of ordinary Club Members who go above and beyond in their contribution to the Club.

The Club's iinaugural winner of the Club Volunteer of the Year was Jacinta Briant; a former Club Captain who has made an immeasurable contribution to the Club over a number of years.

As Captain Jacinta personally led nearly every Club Social Ride for 2 years and was a founding contributor to our Social program. Following retirement from the Captaincy in 2014 Jacinta has remained a regular on the Club's calendar of weekly rides and continued to lead rides, develop our Women's program, been a friendly face for new members on their first rides and most importantly Jacinta has taken on the challenge of running our canteen and putting on the best trackside barbecue's possible!

We couldn't imagine a more worthy recipient of this award and we're proud to call Jacinta a Member of the Club!
